Camping is one of the most rewarding activities you can do together, learning about each other and the environment around you.  It is a perfect opportunity to create lasting memories and traditions to pass down to the future generations.  Camping has no age limit!

Babies

If you’ve always loved camping but have recently started a new chapter of your life with a baby this page is for you.┬á Camping doesn’t have to be a thing of the past!┬á Camping with babies can be a wonderful adventure you can enjoy – it just takes a little more planning and preparation, and we’re here to help – from talking about locations, cooking and equipment to activities and tips & tricks from other parents.

Toddlers

Camping with toddlers can be such a fun experience for all.  They are at an age where they want to get involved more and their curiosity makes for excitement in the simplest discoveries.  Being away from home and their familiar surroundings can mean their attention is solely on the new location and activities and is a perfect time to explore and learn together.

Kids

Whether you’re new to camping as a family or have been enjoying the benefits of getting away and exploring new places with the kids for a while our page has something for everyone.┬á At this age their minds are absorbing everything and life long interests in the outdoors and nature and be born and encouraged.┬á This age especially are fascinated by bugs and creepy crawlies which are easy to find on a camping trip.┬á See our Activities and Trusts & Organisations section for more ideas to keep them entertained.

Teens

Unless you’ve been camping with your teens for a while and they already enjoy the experience, it can be trickier to convince them to join you.┬á So lets make it so enticing they can’t resist!

Think about what your teen enjoys and look for a location that might have something for them.  Many of our locations have activities on site or may be perfect for activities you can take with you. For example we have sites that run pottery activities for the creative or you could choose a working farm for the animal lovers.

Cooking

Camping cooking can be as basic or elaborate as you choose.┬á Some of us like to keep it simple when camping so you can spend more time unwinding and enjoying your surroundings and don’t have to pack everything including the kitchen sink.┬á Or you can choose to cook up a storm and explore your surroundings with some foraging to include in your dishes.┬á Many of our locations have run activities and encourage foraging – but please make sure you know that what you are collecting is safe to eat.┬á For many the act of preparing, cooking and eating together is the highlight of the trip. We would love to hear what your favourite camping meal is or what would be a ‘No No’ on your camping trip. Drop me a line at hello@nearlywildcamping.org
