Nearly Wild Camping Winter Talks 2024

Winter Talk – Landscape Photography with Ben Barendrecht – 10th March

Dutch photographer Ben Barendrecht is fascinated by landscapes: how they change in the light; the stories that are held within them and the weather systems hanging above them all.

In this talk, Ben guides us through his photography processes, from selecting rock formations to waiting for exactly the right light.

Ben’s enthusiasm for the mountains of his Scottish home (and further afield!) is infectious and inspiring – we hope you enjoy watching back!

Winter Talk – Suzi Drew on Campfire Cooking – 25th February

Location provider Suzi Drew guides us through her favourite family recipes to cook around the campfire. From pizza to cookies, she shares her recipes, shopping lists and kit for the most delicious campfire dinner.

Winter Talk – Steve and Irene on the Cape Wrath Trail – 11th February

In this talk, Steve & Irene, the founders of Nearly Wild, shared with us their experiences of the Cape Wrath Trail. The Cape Wrath Trail is a long-distance walk from Fort William to the most north westerly point of mainland Britain, Cape Wrath.

Bikepacking and Navigation on Dartmoor with Wray Valley Camping

Adventures can start anywhere. From inner city London to the foot of Ben Lomond, there are green spaces, rivers and woodland to be chased and explored, whether you have one night or twenty.

For this Nearly Wild Camping trip, I had four days, and was beginning in the capital for a weekend of cycling, navigation and camping in Devon. The plan is to hire an electric bike at the small seaside town of Topsham, just outside of Exeter (a few stops down the line from Exeter Central), cycle it to Wray Valley Camping for the Nearly Wild Camping Experience Weekend of navigation on Dartmoor, then spend the next two days visiting other Nearly Wild Camping Locations.   LEARN MORE
