┬áNearly Wild Camping Experience Weekend –
Woodland Survival Crafts with Dave Watson
Friday 12th to Sunday 14th July
What resources do the woodlands hold? What exactly are the differences between tree species, and what are the possible uses of each? What campfire gadgets can we craft from the natural resources around us?
Dave WatsonÔÇÖs Nearly Wild Experience Camp is chock-full of practical knowledge about crafting outdoors. You will learn how to make a friction fire with a bow drill, how to make quality cordage from natural materials as well as other useful campfire gadgets and a bit of carving for fun.
For the past 30 years, Dave has been sharing bushcraft skills with people young and old. ÔÇ£It became clear very early on that bushcraft was a tool which excited and inspired everyone,ÔÇØ says Dave.
ÔÇ£It is an excellent tool to teach life skills, environmental education, and history as well as being a perfect basis in which to impart sound spiritual lessons.ÔÇØ

This weekend will take place at Intake Farm in Staffordshire. A working farm, camping at Intake can range from hammocking in their ÔÇ£Wudu WoodÔÇØ to pitching up on a levelled grassed area overlooking ancient stones and scattered farm animals. If youÔÇÖd like a break from humans, the livestock at Intake are always up for a visit, too!
This weekend is not a bushcraft course, but an opportunity to learn from someone who has ÔÇ£lived and breathedÔÇØ bushcraft, but you can expect to learn about:

- Campfire gadgets ÔÇô working with natural materials to create all sorts of useful tools
- Bow drill ÔÇô how to create smoke with the least amount of effort before making an ember and then blowing it into flame
- String making ÔÇô using some common materials from the countryside to create quality cordage
This is not designed as a formal training course, but as a learning experience where you can get started and learn some basics in an informal, sociable environment, from someone who has ÔÇ£lived and breathedÔÇØ bushcraft skills. If you want to miss some sessions, relax or just have time alone, you can. This is not about passing a test, itÔÇÖs about informal learning.

We hope to see you there!
Adult ticket for Woodland Survival Craft Weekend £20
Child ticket for Woodland Survival Craft Weekend £0
NOTE: We have made the decision to charge for the weekend for three reasons:
- The additional income will allow us to host more events
- Feedback from attending members has suggested we should charge a small fee in recognition of what they tell us is ÔÇÿincredible valueÔÇÖ
- In our trials last year 50% of those members who booked did not actually attend, this took up places that could have been booked by other members. Obviously, this is both harder for organisation but also unfair to other members. To try and avoid this it has been suggested a small charge will help avoid this.
The £20 fee is non-refundable.
